Miranda and I have been living in Pismo Beach while she does a detail (temporary position) as a District Ranger on the Los Padres National Forest and Mom and Dad came to visit us while we were there. Unfortunately, a wildfire sprang up on Miranda's district just before they arrived and Miranda was responsible for managing the response to it, so she had to spend a lot of the time working and wasn't able to go with us on our trip to Santa Cruz Island, which is part of Channel Islands National Park.

Mom and Dad and I took a ferry to the island for a day trip. On the boat ride, a bunch of dolphins swam alongside the boat and surfed on the wake. Once we arrived, wehiked all over the fairly small island with dramatic sea cliffs and then went snorkeling.
