We basically just chilled in Bangkok and did several days of shopping to replace items we'd lost or worn out.
After extending his vacation from two weeks to a month, Massey finally had to go home, an extremely sad day. What a month it has been.
Sam and I spent a day walking to the Temple of the Dawn and back. When we arrived at the river to take ferry, we found out that it was the last one of the day and there would be no ferry back. Sam wanted to go anyway and figure out a way back later and so we did. When we were on the opposite side of the river, we happened to encounter what apparently was a practice run of a water parade featuring the king. He wasn't there that day, but it was fascinating to see all the boats, their synchronized rowers, and the ornate designs on their bows. A old local lady was kind enough to explain the whole thing to us. To get back to our hostel, we walked aways down the river to a bridge, which extended our hike to nearly 20km.
